Where can I find German Rollers for sale
What is your objective? When considering buying birds always try to get the best birds you can to meet your objective. For example – you may want a single pet only for yourself , family member or friend. You may want to get more serious and become active in the Fancy, this implies keeping a pair ( 2 birds) in a small cage or aviary – either outdoor or indoors. You also want to start raising , Showing or Exhibiting your birds.
One thing is for sure – the more birds you have the greater the time required for proper attention and care. Either way it’s a commitment to keep birds as hobby, whether your serious about improving your line of birds or just want to accent your home or patio with aviaries.
I raise champion German Roller Song Canaries and Red Factors Color bred Canaries. I am a Roller Judge and try to participate in the local Shows by Exhibiting birds. My birds and aviaries can be viewed by appointment only. I strongly suggest to purchase birds from Breeders who are active Exhibitors. This will ensure quality birds and proven bloodlines. There are many bird sellers at the local Bird Marts with birds without pedigree’s or know origin. While the Bird Marts are helpful to get started, they rarely have a pool of outstanding birds to get started correctly with the birds, so buyer beware. Know your objective.
How do I get contact breeders and purchase birds? Contact your local bird clubs for a breeder list.
Contact the breeder and make an appointment and visit them. Once you decide on what you want work with the breeder on availability of stock and pricing. You may have to wait to get good stock. The birds are bred in the Spring and are available in the end of Fall into Winter. Some breeders will not ship and you will have to visit them and make arrangements. I use the United Airlines Pet Safe service. Either way making contact with the breeder is best. They can mentor and help you when you have questions or need advice.
Why not just get a Pet Shop bird? Always try to get Birds from reputable breeders. Pet shop birds, while quick and convienient to purchase, can be disappointing due to lack of quality.
